An Decay

An Decay

In the 1940s, four thousand Irish people died every year of tuberculosis, while thousands more were cooped up in sanatoria dotted all over the country. Separated from family and friends, patients in the 'san' lived in their own twilight world, sometimes for years on end. An Decay tells their stories and the story of the fight to beat TB - the first real social achievement of independent Ireland.
