After retreating to the West of Ireland to recover from the sudden death of their infant daughter, Martha and Tomas foster a disturbed eight-yearold girl, Daisy, who has lost her entire family in tragic accidents. The locals warn Martha and Tomas that Daisy is an evil fairy changeling but, for Martha, Daisy becomes the focus of an obsessive love, more treasured than the new baby she is carrying. As a string of ghastly events strike the community, even Tomas finds it impossible to remain loyal to his wife, who will
eventually sacrifice everything to her belief that Daisy is the child she was meant to have.
