Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland provides funding for the production of live-action, animated feature films, documentaries and television series across these distinct categories:
Irish Film Production
Films (live-action and animated features) and in certain limited circumstances high-quality television drama (including English- and Irish-language drama) originated and creatively led by Irish talents - directors, writers, producers. The content will generally express Irish culture in some way, and the practical management will be primarily in Irish hands. view more >
Creative Co-production
Films originated outside Ireland in which an Irish producer is involved as a creative collaborator and provider of a minority of the finance needed. The film must be structured as an official co-production with significant production activity in the Republic of Ireland. In certain cases, there will be a commitment by a funding body in the principal producer's country to provide reciprocal support for an Irish film. view more >
Documentary Production: TV Series
This funding is for documentary series originated and creatively led by Irish talent - directors, producers and writers – to create high end TV content with both an Irish and international audience and marketplace in mind. view more >
Documentary Production: Feature Film
This funding is for documentary feature films originated and creatively led by Irish talent - directors, producers and writers - the practical management of which will be primarily in Irish hands.The emphasis is on feature-length, creative documentaries in English and Irish language with high cinematic production values which are capable of reaching an international audience through theatrical and festival exposure and on new platforms. view more >
Documentary Production: Creative Co-Production
This funding is for documentary feature films (documentary series are not eligible) originating outside Ireland in which an Irish producer (ROI) is involved as a creative collaborator, not merely a service producer and provider of a minority of the finance needed. The film must be structured as an official co-production with third party funding from the leading territory in place and must employ key Irish talent. view more >
TV Drama Production
This funding is for TV drama series originated and creatively led by Irish talents – directors, writers, producers – to create indigenous TV content with both an Irish and international audience and marketplace in mind. Applications will generally express Irish culture in some way and the practical management must be primarily in Irish hands. view more >

Animated TV series originated and creatively led by Irish talents - directors, writers, producers, animators - the content of which will generally (but not invariably) express Irish culture in some way, and the practical management of which is primarily in Irish hands. view more >
Documentary
Funding to enable the production of documentary films, with a clear emphasis on feature-length creative documentaries capable of reaching an international audience through theatrical and festival exposure. view more >
Completion
Funding to enable the completion of a fiction, animation or documentary film (but not a TV drama or short film) which has reached post-production stage or later without Screen Ireland support which shows great promise and is in need of further funding. view more >
Sustainability Advisor Initiative for Film & TV Production
The aim of this funding is to support the requirement of the productions to complete the carbon calculator and implement a carbon reducing plan and sustainability plan on the production. view more >
Regional Production Support Fund
This additional production loan is for projects (live-action and animated feature film and television) that are carrying out production in regional areas of Ireland (defined as outside the Dublin / Wicklow area). view more >
