Alan Gilsenan’s Unique Drama, The Meeting, Open in Irish Cinemas on 28 September

Posted: 25th September 2018

Alan Gilsenan's highly anticipated drama with a difference, The Meeting, opens in Irish cinemas this Friday, 28 September.

In a modest room in a Dublin suburb, two people prepare for a meeting that could have an enormous impact on their lives. For both of them, it is a complete step into the unknown.

The film is based on a real meeting which took place between Ailbhe Griffith and the man who, nine years earlier, subjected her to a horrific sexual assault and left her seriously injured and fearing for her life.

Griffith, in an extraordinary move, has chosen to play herself in this unique drama from one of Ireland’s most provocative filmmakers, Alan Gilsenan.

What emerges is a truly unique and unorthodox cinematic experience as Ailbhe courageously seeks healing through a progressive form of justice, rapidly gaining momentum throughout the world.

The cast includes Ailbhe Griffith, Terry O’Neill, Kevin McCormack, Marie Keenan, Brenda McSweeney and Allan Keating.

The Meeting is produced by Tomás Hardiman for Parzival Productions and is distributed by Eclipse Pictures. The title was produced in association with Screen Ireland, the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland and DCTV.

The Meeting opens at cinemas nationwide on 28 September 2018.
