This course from Cultural & Creative Industries Skillnet run in partnership with Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland will provide the skills and knowledge required to direct episodic drama for high-end TV.
In this bespoke, comprehensive course, delivered by the highly experienced, IFTA-nominated, director Diarmuid Goggins, you will acquire the vital skills needed to successfully pitch and direct high-end episodic television projects. This programme will equip you with the tools to navigate the competitive landscape of the industry.
From structuring compelling pitches to understanding the nuances of directing episodic content, you will gain practical insights and creative strategies.
The course is limited to 12 participants so that each participant gets individual attention in the execution of the practical exercises.
This six day course will include two classroom days, two practical days and a screening & review day of all the edited scenes directed by the participants. On the practical days each participant will direct a scene that will be recorded and reviewed.
At the end of the course each participant should be able to:
Applicants will need to have directed a drama short, documentary or TV series work. Ideally candidates will have worked as a director on TV singles, series or commercials and are looking to step up to high end TV drama or indeed break into TV drama.
Applicants who have not worked professionally but have directed a number of shorts and can display an enthusiasm and knowledge of directing may be considered.
This is not an entry level course.
Due to CCIS funding requirements, this course is only available to those resident in the Republic Of Ireland.
The course fee is €540 per person. (Normally this workshop would cost €1,275 per person without the support of Cultural & Creative Industries Skillnet & Screen Ireland)
