Course Profile

Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland is delighted to offer you the opportunity to take part in a workshop on Getting it Right on Set, which will provide practical inclusion tools for production teams.

Getting It Right on Set is a practical workshop designed for producers and production teams across the Irish screen sector in film, television drama, documentary, animation, and advertising. It addresses the inclusion challenges that arise most consistently across production environments: vague or undefined inclusion briefs from commissioners, directors, or clients; duty of care gaps around performers and talent; and decision-maker bias that goes unchallenged in the room.

This session gives participants a working toolkit built around real production situations. Participants will work through the Production Inclusion Audit Framework, practise language scripts for the most difficult inclusion conversations in production and use a Pre-Production Inclusion Risk Checklist they can apply from the first day of any project.

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  • Identify inclusion risk early, at brief stage, casting stage, and on set
  • Apply the Production Inclusion Audit Framework to assess system-level and moment-level inclusion across projects
  • Use practical language scripts to navigate three of the most common difficult conversations in production: responding to vague or undefined inclusion briefs, raising duty of care concerns around performers, and challenging casting or creative decisions that default to the same profiles
  • Use the Pre-Production Inclusion Risk Checklist at the start of every project to flag risks before they become problems
  • Build confidence to raise inclusion concerns professionally with clients, directors, and colleagues
  • Develop a production practice that is known for getting inclusion right, protecting professional reputation and reducing risk
