Course Profile

The WideShot is a talent development programme that offers a series of workshops, training sessions, mentorship and captivating events centred around the realm of digital storytelling and creative multimedia skills.

This programme aims to inspire young creative talent aged 18-25 in Ireland with a focus on nurturing talents from migrant and ethnically diverse communities.

Facilitated by experienced film and media artists and practitioners, The Wideshot community workshops provide a hands-on introduction to the art of storytelling through multimedia. Over six workshops in location Dublin and Limerick, participants will delve into the fundamentals of film production, gain insights into creative techniques, and unlock their potential in an interactive and supportive environment.

Participants can also apply for a summer residency after their participation on the workshops. This residency aims to empower participants to harness their potential in creative media and digital storytelling through in-depth mentorship, on-site training with professional equipment, studio tours and collaborative teamwork. Aligned with their personal narratives and the skills they have learned over the workshops, these young people will be challenged to collaboratively create and showcase a short film in six days.

The WideShot Programme is supported by Screen Ireland through the Screen Stakeholders Funding Scheme.
