Course Profile

GORM is excited to announce the return of the Wideshot Programme, a programme dedicated to bold and diverse storytelling. Now in its third year, this groundbreaking initiative invites aspiring creatives aged 18–30 to bring their stories to life and take their place in the spotlight.

The Wideshot Programme focuses on empowering young voices, particularly from migrant, ethnically diverse, and underrepresented communities in Ireland. Through hands-on workshops, professional mentorship, and industry connections, participants will gain the skills to amplify their narratives and forge a path in the media industry. Whether you’re an aspiring filmmaker, content creator, or someone who’s just brimming with untold stories, Wideshot is your chance to:

  • Learn the foundations of multimedia storytelling, from smartphone filming to 4K camera techniques.
  • Learn from award-winning mentors and industry experts.
  • Pitch your creative ideas and compete for a €2,500 development grant.

Programme highlights include:

  • Community Workshops: From shooting vids on your phone to full-on professional setups, we’ll help you nail the skills to tell your story like a pro.
  • The Summer Incubator: For 10 lucky people who took part in the workshops. Think of this as the ultimate creative bootcamp—mentors, studio tours, proper gear, and a chance to pitch your idea for €2,500.
  • Real Industry Connections: Five participants will land legit placements with top media partners. We’re talking game-changing opportunities here.
  • Showcase Your Work: The winning pitcher’s creation premieres at the GORM Gathering. Yep, your story, on the big screen.

The Wideshot Programme is proudly supported by funding from The Arts Council (YPCE Project Award), the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth (Ireland Against Racism Fund), and Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland through the Screen Stakeholders Funding Scheme.
