Are you a creative young individual aged 18-30 with a passion for digital storytelling and content creation? Get ready for "The Wideshot," a unique talent development initiative by GORM. A programme for ethnically diverse young adults, the Wideshot offers a series of workshops from March to May 2026, and for a lucky few, a fully funded summer residency known as The Close-Up Residency (see www.gormmedia.com/the-close-up).

This programme is supported by Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland through the Screen Stakeholders Funding Scheme.

What's "The Wideshot" About?

"The Wideshot" equips you with multimedia and creative skills essential for a successful career in the digital media landscape. Expect hands-on learning, mentorship from industry experts, networking opportunities and a chance to build your professional portfolio.

Key elements include:

  • Community Event: Open day, 20th or 27th March (TBC)
  • Workshops: Interactive sessions across Ireland introducing participants to storytelling, filmmaking techniques, and creative production.
  • Industry Access: Newsletter Updates on Opportunities traineeships and internships facilitated through partnerships with media organisations and community groups.

Eligibility

  • Open to young people aged 18–30 residing in Ireland.
  • Focus on (but not limited to) individuals from low incomes areas and/or migrant and ethnically diverse backgrounds.
  • No prior experience in media or storytelling required, just a passion to learn and create.
  • Ideal for aspiring filmmakers, storytellers, or those curious about digital storytelling.
  • Must be available to attend workshops and participate in programme activities.
