This training programme from Cultural & Creative Industries Skillnet (CCIS), run in partnership with Screen Ireland, in collaboration with TVM Outside Broadcast Facilities, is a fantastic opportunity for aspiring directors to gain hands-on experience in both studio and outside broadcast (OB) environments. By covering industry-standard practices and technical setups, participants will develop essential skills in editorial decision-making, planning, communication, and teamwork.

What Will This Course Cover?

  • Multi-Camera Studio Directing:
    • Class Work and Studio Sessions: Participants will learn how a gallery and studio floor operate.
    • Practical Skills: Creating floor plans, camera scripting, and running orders.
    • Directing Experience: Bringing ideas to life by directing a fully crewed gallery and floor.
  • Outside Broadcast (OB) Directing:
    • On-Location Learning: Understanding the differences between studio and OB setups.
    • Live OB Workings: Developing directing and vision mixing skills in a live environment.

Participant Profile/Who Can Apply/Eligibility

Applicants must have a minimum of three years hands on experience working in a studio or OB environment who wish to move into the role of Director. This course might appeal to people, with relevant experience, returning to the workforce. 

Cultural & Creative Industry Skillnet membership applicants must be resident in the Republic of Ireland to qualify for CCIS membership support and not be in receipt of:

  1. a bursary
  2. a scholarship
  3. grant aid

Costs/Fee

The fee for the course is normally €2,250 per person, however successful applicants can avail of a membership rate of €500 per person, supported by Screen Ireland and CCIS.

Applications Procedure

Apply for the Multi-camera Training Programme for Directors

Please apply by the application deadline on Monday, 6th January 2025, noon. Due to the tight turnaround, suitably qualified applicants will be awarded a place on a first come, first served basis. Therefore, CCIS may stop accepting applications before the deadline date.
