Masterclass Profile

Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland as part of S481 Skills Development Screen Talks in association with production company Wild Atlantic Pictures, is delighted to present an industry talk with US-based filmmaker Ric Roman Waugh, whose upcoming feature film Shelter starring Jason Statham filmed in Ireland. This talk will take place online on Monday, 17th November 2025 from 6pm to 7pm.

Ric Roman Waugh is an American filmmaker whose career spans decades, beginning as a stunt performer and coordinator. He first drew serious notice as a filmmaker with the gritty, character-driven film, Felon and its follow up, Shot Caller. Waugh then became a prominent name in action cinema after directing Angel Has Fallen, the high-stakes third instalment of the Has Fallen franchise, the disaster thriller Greenland, and the action film, Kandahar, all three starring Gerard Butler. Their latest collaboration, Greenland: Migration is due in theatres worldwide, January 2026. Waugh has recently teamed up with action icon Jason Statham on Shelter, a thriller about a reclusive man whose life unravels after rescuing a drowning girl. Shelter is also slated for its theatrical release in January 2026 by Blackbear. Waugh recently launched CineMachine Media Works, now under a first-look deal with Lionsgate. CineMachine is dedicated to continuing his brand of elevated genre movies centered around socially relevant themes.

Ric Roman Waugh will be in conversation with filmmaker, actor and stunt professional Lauterio Zamparelli. Lauterio trained as an actor at the Arts Educational School London, graduating in 2009. After his training, he built a dual-career in acting and stunt work. He is a member of Stunt Register Ireland. In addition, he founded his own stunt company, called KickAss Productions. In his acting credits, Zamparelli has appeared in series such as Vikings, Emmerdale and feature films Jimi: All Is by My Side and Old Guy. He has also worked as a stunt performer and coordinator on major productions — for example, he performed a partial body burn as a stunt-double on the TV series Dynasty. Now based in Ireland, Zamparelli continues to combine his skills in acting, physical performance and stunt coordination — bringing both artistry and athleticism to his projects. His background as a trained actor and certified stunt professional gives him a distinctive place in the entertainment industry. He is now looking to break into directing and recently was placed as shadow director for Harry Wild Season 5.
