Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland as part of S481 Skills Development Screen Talks in association with Wild Atlantic Pictures is delighted to present an industry talk with US-based film executive John Sloss in conversation with producer Conor Barry taking place at the Irish Film Institute on Tuesday, 23rd July 2024 from 10:30 to 12:30.
John Sloss is founder and CEO of Cinetic Media, and partner in Sloss Eckhouse Dasti Haynes LawCo. Through Cinetic, John produces motion pictures and television, provides various content sales and corporate advisory services, and presides over a rapidly growing talent management division. He has produced or executive produced over 70 films including Richard Linklater’s Academy Award-winning Boyhood, Last Flag Flying, and “Before” Series, Todd Haynes’s The Velvet Underground, Wonderstruck and I'm Not There, Peter Farrelly’s Academy Award-winning Green Book. John has handled the sale of more than 600 films including Napoleon Dynamite, Little Miss Sunshine, Precious, Exit Through The Gift Shop, Amy, Summer of Soul, Hit Man and many of the most iconic independent films of the past 25 years.
John will be in conversation with Irish producer Conor Barry. For Wild Atlantic Pictures, he is one of the producers on The Damned, directed by Thor Palsson, featuring Odessa Young, which is being sold by Protagonist Pictures. He is one of the co-producers on The End, directed by Joshua Oppeinheimer, featuring Tilda Swinton, and which is being sold by Neon and The Match Factory. For Hail Mary Pictures, he is presently a co-producer on Father Mother Sister Brother directed by Jim Jarmusch featuring Adam Driver and Cate Blanchett, and which is being sold by The Match Factory, and executive producer on Hallow Road directed by Babak Anvari, featuring Rosamund Pike, which is being sold by XYZ Films. For Savage Productions, he executive produced Antonia Campbell Hughes' It is In Us All with Cosmo Jarvis which screened at SXSW 2022, winning the Grand Jury Prize for Cinematic Vision. He also produced Brendan Muldowney’s horror The Cellar, with Elisha Cuthbert, sold by Epic, which also premiered at SXSW 2022. Previously, he was one of the producers on Lee Cronin’s debut feature The Hole in the Gound which screened at Sundance, and as co-producer, Sacha Polack’s Dirty God, which was also selected at Sundance. He was one of the producers on Pilgrimage (Brendan Muldowney) featuring Tom Holland and Jon Bernthal.
