Emissions Reduction

  • Deliveries and collections of materials and equipment should be optimised to minimise journeys and reduce fuel use/emissions.
  • The costume department should look for opportunities to reduce energy consumption wherever possible.
  • Equipment should be switched off and unplugged when not in use.
  • Observe the no idling policy.

Circular Economy

  • Source materials and equipment which have the lowest environmental impact.
  • Prioritise second hand and rented items where possible. When purchasing new items, consider the material quality and durability, with particular focus on their next life after production.
  • Organic, non-toxic and environmentally friendly material and products should be used where possible.
  • Semi-permanent and cloth garment bags should be used. Single use plastic garment bags should not be used.
  • Develop an Asset Disposal Plan to identify options for donating, reusing or repurposing items at the end of the production.
  • Place waste food, packaging and materials in the appropriate waste stream.

Carbon Calculator

  • Assist the Sustainability Advisor to obtain environmental information from suppliers.
  • Facilitate the collection of data on energy use, fuel use, materials use and transport for the carbon calculator.
