1. Sustainability Advisor (Manager/Co-ordinator)
Required
All Screen Ireland funded live action features and scripted TV shows must engage a Sustainability Advisor from very early in pre-production through to post-production. The Sustainability Advisor should work with the production to:
The Emissions Reduction Plan will set out the measures to be taken to reduce emissions on the production using a standard format/template which covers all of the key areas that need to be addressed. This Plan must be submitted to Screen Ireland during pre-production. (See 3. Reporting)
The Green Procurement Policy will set out the production's objectives, goals and strategy for ensuring that procurement decisions are based on the principles of emissions reduction, circular economy and compliance with all applicable environmental laws, regulations and standards.
Specific Green Procurement Policies should be created for Accommodation and Catering suppliers.
The Zero Waste Policy will set out the production's objectives, goals and strategy for minimising waste generation and promoting the use of sustainable products and practices.
A preliminary carbon footprint calculation should be prepared by the Sustainability Advisor during pre-production to inform the Emissions Reduction Plan. During Production, the Sustainability Advisor should be provided with up-to date data on a periodic basis to enable monitoring of the implementation of the Emissions Reduction Plan. The Sustainability
Advisor will complete the Carbon Calculator after the production has wrapped and final accounts data have been obtained in order to calculate the final actual emissions from the production.
This report will capture key metrics from the carbon calculator and other data sources and present the results using a standard format/template in order to facilitate analysis and review of the outcomes of the measures undertaken and the learnings obtained. This Report must be submitted to Screen Ireland at the end of production (See 3. Reporting)
(Note: Report to include proof/demonstration that all environmental laws were complied with)
2. Carbon Calculator
Required
All productions must use an approved carbon calculator to calculate the anticipated and actual emissions from the production. The calculator should be set up and completed by the Sustainability Advisor. (See 1. Sustainability Advisor). Data and information from the calculator will form a key part of the information submitted to Screen Ireland in the Emissions Reduction Plan and Emissions Reduction Report (See 3. Reporting).
3. Reporting
Required
Each production must submit the following reports to Screen Ireland:
This must be submitted before production starts and should be completed by a Sustainability Advisor. (See 1. Sustainability Advisor)
This must be submitted at the end of the production and should be completed by a Sustainability Advisor. (See 1. Sustainability Advisor).
