Discover the Actor as Creator shorts premiering at the Cork International Film Festival this November

Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland and Bow Street Academy are proud to present the World Premieres of new short films funded under the Actor as Creator scheme at the 67th Cork International Film Festival. The screening will take place on Wednesday, 16th November in the Gate Cinema at 3pm.

Additionally, Actor as Creator short Departure by Clare Monnelly, which received its World Premiere at the Galway Film Fleadh earlier this year, will screen as part of the Irish Shorts 4: Non-Competition Programme alongside a range of Focus and Frameworks Screen Ireland shorts on Friday, 11th November in the Gate Cinema at 3.15pm.

"Glitterbug was made on the 40th year anniversary of the AIDS pandemic in Ireland. It is a story of allyship and a homage to all the women who were forgotten, and those who are still fighting for change today."
Set in 90’s Dublin, two female DJs have their dreams of making it big in London crushed when one of them is diagnosed with HIV.

Kellie Blaise studied Past life Regression for the film so the script would be as authentic as possible.
An Irish woman in the 1980s suffers a terrible tragedy and develops Dissociative Identity Disorder as a coping mechanism. Under the supervision of her unorthodox Psychologist Dr.Cahill she assumes the identity of the infamous flapper girl Zelda Fitzgerald.

Fiona’s life now revolves around her fading Mother Mary’s care. As Mary grows weaker, Fiona accepts she must contact her estranged brother Mark to allow him to say goodbye.

"A scene in the film required 100s of micro cassette tapes. These proved far too expensive to purchase, so taking an idea from my teenage son, we bulk bought 100s of Tik Tac boxes, printed out images of the cassette tapes, and proceeded to DIY the props."
After the loss of his wife, Brian becomes preoccupied with her voicemail, bordering on the obsessive and further distancing him from his young son.
