The Wednesdays wins top prize at German festival
The Irish short The Wednesdays directed by Conor Ferguson has scooped the top prize at the International Filmfest Emden-Norderney and received the Ostfriesische Kurzfilmpreis (East Frisian Short Film Award).The win which was an audience award came with a trophy and prize money. The film received the highest number of votes ever given to a short film in competition since the award was founded in 1997.
The International Filmfest Emden-Norderney is one of Germany's most nationally acclaimed and internationally recognised film festivals. With over 100 films shown on seven screens it is primarily a major audience festival for its 22,000 or so visitors.
The film was written by Luke Clancy and Conor Ferguson and was produced by AnneMarie Naughton for Park Films with funding from the IFB, the Galway Film Centre and RTE.
