Two More Irish Films Selected for Toronto

Irish film COLONY directed by Ross McDonnell and Carter Gunn and EAMON directed by Margaret Corkery have been selected for the Toronto International Film Festival, bringing to four the number of Irish films selected for this prestigious festival.

COLONY explores the unexplainable phenomenon of Colony Collapse Disorder which has left landscapes of empty beehives all across America and will screen in the ‘Real to Reel’ Category at the 34th International Toronto Film Festival in September. The film is produced by Morgan Bushe and Macdara Kelleher for Fastnet Films with funding from Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board.

EAMON recently picked up the prestigious Independent Camera Award in the 44th Karlovy-Vary International Film Festival and will screen in the DISCOVERY section of the festival. Starring Darren Healy (Love is the Drug, Once, Savage) and new-comers Amy Kirwan and Robert Donnelly in the lead roles, EAMON was produced under the CATALYST PROJECT feature film scheme. The film tells the story of Eamon, a little boy with behavioral problems and the destructive relationship of his parents and is produced by Seamus Byrne in Zanita Films.

Other Irish features 'Ondine' and 'Cracks' will also screen at this A-List festival.
