Irish film Waveriders now available to purchase on DVD

WAVERIDERS is released today on DVD. The award winning feature documentary tells the epic story of the unlikely Irish roots of the worldwide surfing phenomenon and today's pioneers of big wave surfing.

Featuring renowned Irish, British and American surfers Richie Fitzgerald, Gabe Davies, Kelly Slater and the Malloy brothers, WAVERIDERS tracks the influence of legendary Hawaiian waterman, George Freeth, the son of an Irishman, and the first true soul surfer.

From Hawaii to California and back to Irish shores the film reaches a spectacular climax when the surfers conquer an enormous sixty foot wave - the biggest swell ever to have been ridden off the Irish Atlantic coast; the event heralds the country's emergence as one of Europe's top surf destinations.

Breathtaking footage, an awesome soundtrack and record breaking surf, WAVERIDERS truly captures the spirit and extreme highs of big wave surfing.

Packed with loads of extras including interviews and some spectacular extra surfing footage available, the DVD is available from all good Irish retail, surf and sports stores or from www.waveridersthefilm.com

Remarkable!
Empire Magazine

Gripping ... Awe-inspiring.
Total Film

...overpowering picture deserves to take its place alongside earlier classics such as Riding Giants and The Endless Summer.  The film deserves to be seen on a big screen.
The Irish Times

..raw and exhilarating, director Joel Conroy harnesses something intangible: the spiritual purity that lures extreme surfers to the ocean. The final breathtaking images, captured in the maw of an angry ocean, still linger large in my mind.
The Sunday Tribune

... creates a genuine desire to throw on a duffle coat and run for the blissfully unspoilt Irish coasts. As Slater comments, Ireland's a rather cold paradise.
Huck Magazine

The most unique and visually stunning documentary of its genre to have been made in decades.
Dazed & Confused

The resulting footage is among some of the most breathtaking and frankly terrifying film of surf ever shot, quite literally awesome.
