FOXES Selected for Prestigious Critic’s Week at Venice Film Festival

FOXES a low budget film shot in Ireland last year which features the Irish actors Aaron Monaghan and Jonathan Byrne has been selected for the prestigious Critic's Week at this year's Venice Film Festival.

Written and directed by Mira Fornay, Foxes tells the story of Alzbeta an au pair from Slovakia.  When she decides at her own risk to stay in Dublin, a secret from her past (shared by her sister Martina and Martina's Irish fiancé Steve) comes back to reveal the truth about the two sisters and the real reason they can never escape their home.

The film was produced by David Collins of Samson Films and his co-producers Brian Willis, Viktor Schwarz of Cineart, Prague and Juraj Buzalka of Slovak MIRAS.  It was financed by the Irish Film Board, Eurimages, The Czech and Slovak Film Fund and I/O Post in Prague. 

A limited theatrical release is planned for the autumn in Ireland.

The 66th Venice Film Festival will take place 2nd to 12th September.
