Award-winning Irish Films to Feature as part of the Line-Up at the Electric Picnic

This years festival goers will have an opportunity to enjoy Joel Conroy's award winning WAVERIDERS which tells the epic story of the unlikely Irish roots of the worldwide surfing phenomenon, along with the dark comedy A FILM WITH ME IN IT starring Dylan Moran, a special screening of musical shorts and a second screening of comedy shorts, all of which will feature as part of the Electric Picnic Cinema Tent.

Short films screening include the first indigenous Bollywood film to be produced in Ireland, David O'Sullivan's MOORE STREET MASALA. This short love story was filmed in Dublin earlier this year and had members of the public taking part in the Bollywood dance finale.  Also screening will be the quirky love story CHAIRS, along with Shane Martin's SEPARATION AGENCY which reveals a novel way of getting dumped. 

THE MAN FROM 301 which has picked up several international awards is also included in the line-up along with A CLOWN'S REQUIEM directed by Jason Forde, DENTAL BREAKDOWN directed by Ian Power a musical comedy starring the comedian David McSavage and MR. FOLEY which stars Mark Doherty.

The Irish Film Board has also programmed a special screening of award winning comedy shorts. The mix of animated and live action shorts includes the IFTA winning GRANNY O'GRIMM'S SLEEPING BEAUTY directed by Nicky Phelan and written and performed by Kathleen O'Rourke, ROLLA SAOR directed by Cathal Watters, Declan Cassidy's WHATEVER TURNS YOU ON and THE WEDNESDAYS directed by Conor Ferguson which picked up the Audience Award at the world renowned Clermont Ferrand short film festival last year.

Pat Shortt stars in SPACEMEN THREE directed by Hugh O'Connor while other comedies to screen include TEETH directed by Ruairí O' Brien and John Kennedy who also directed HOOR, Johnny O'Reilly's 3MINUTE 4PLAY, Ken Wardrop's USELESS DOG, Frank Reid's PUMP ACTION and THE BLAXORCIST which was directed by Edward King. 

Other animated comedy shorts to screen include Cathal Gaffney's DING DONG DENNY'S HISTORY OF IRELAND and Melina Padua's film AGRICULTURAL REPORT.
