INTERMISSION: NUMBER 1 AT THE IRISH BOX OFFICE

Bord Scannan na hEireann / the Irish Film Board is pleased to announce that INTERMISSION hit the Number 1 spot at the Irish box office over the weekend.

INTERMISSION which is released through Buena Vista International (Ireland), opened nationwide on over 30 prints on August 29th. With a mixture of a high profile Irish cast including Colin Farrell, a widely promoted soundtrack and positive reviews, the film has taken the top spot in Ireland after just 10 days on release

INTERMISSION is the cinematic debut of award winning theatre director John Crowley and is written by Mark O'Rowe. It won the Best First Feature Award at the Galway Film Fleadh and has also been officially selected for: Edinburgh Film Festival, Toronto Film Festival, Telluride Film Festival (US) and San Sebastien Film Festival.

Produced by Stephen Woolley and Neil Jordan's 'Company of Wolves' and Alan Moloney's 'Parallel Films', INTERMISSION's ensemble cast includes Colin Farrell, Cillian Murphy, Kelly Macdonald, Colm Meaney and Shirley Henderson.

The film is co-funded by the Irish Film Board and the UK Film Council. It will be released in the UK on November 21st by Buena Vista and by IFC (MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING, Y TU MAMA TAMBIEN) in the US.
