Irish documentary Chippers to screen in New York
The Irish documentary CHIPPERS, directed and produced by Nino Tropiano, will screen in the John D. Calandra Italian American Institute in New York on Monday September 21st at 6pm as part of the ‘Documented Italians' Film and Video series.Chippers tells the story of Dublin's well-established community of four thousand Italians who have owned chip shops in the city since the 1900's and features archive footage of Dublin city. The documentary has screened at numerous European and American film festivals including the Tessaliniki Documentary Market in Greece and the Boston and Chicago Irish Film Festivals in the US.
There will be a post-screening discussion on the night led by Cara De Silva, food historian and Joseph Sciorra from the Calandra Institute.
Produced by Fall Films, the documentary was produced with funding from the Irish Film Board and Filmbase. It is currently available on sale on DVD in Laser Shop DVD Specialists and will be distributed by Vitagraph in Italy.
