The Eclipse to screen at Mill Valley Film Festival

Conor McPherson's supernatural drama THE ECLIPSE is the latest addition to the Mill Valley Film Festival and will join Niall McKay's documentary A SONG FOR DAD in the line up next week.

The Eclipse which opened the recent LA Irish Film Festival tells the story about a widower (Ciarán Hinds) who is haunted by nightmarish visions. When he volunteers at an international literary festival, his life converges with a beautiful author of supernatural fiction (Iben Hjejle) and a self obsessed novelist (Aidan Quinn) drawing them into a life-altering collision between the living and the dead.

A Song For Dad is a personal documentary in which Niall McKay explores his relationship with his Jazz musician father, Jim, who in the 1970s raised his two young sons on his own in Dublin. Scored by Jim's jazz music, this film questions what it means to be a son, a husband and a father.

The Mill Valley Film Festival now in its 32nd year aims to be a celebration of the best in independent and world cinema.  With a reputation as a filmmaker's festival, this prestigious noncompetitive event showcases international features, documentaries, shorts and children's films. Each year, the 11-day Festival sells over 40,000 tickets and welcomes more than 200 filmmakers from around the world.

A Song for Dad will screen on Friday, October 9th at 9pm in the Sequoia Theatre in Mill Valley, California with live musical accompaniment and again on Sunday, October 11th at 7.30pm in the Christopher B. Smith Rafael Film Centre.

The Eclipse will screen on Sunday, October 11th at 8.15pm in the Christopher B. Smith Rafael Film Centre where it will again be screened on Wednesday, October 14th at 9.15pm.
