Is the film industry as we know it dead and gone?
We all know how to make a low-budget film - but how do you make a GREAT one?
Filmmaker Lenny Abrahamson (Garage, Adam and Paul) will lead a discussion exploring the state of the medium - and the way forward. The panel will discuss the highs and lows of the low budget catalyst scheme, the latest international models of low budget filmmaking and the latest digital film industry trends. Panelists will include Tom Perlmutter (Commissioner and Chairperson, Canadian Film Board), producer Katie Holly (One Hundred Mornings, Sensation), Alan Maher (Production Executive, Irish Film Board), filmmaker Brendan Muldowney (Savage) and filmmaker Hunter Weeks (10MPH).

The screening will be followed by an informal networking reception. NB: Admission to this screening is free. Tickets will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis from the Light House box-office at 5.30pm on the day.
SAVAGE

Brendan Muldowney's low budget feature debut is a study of the impact a violent assault has on a young man in inner-city Dublin and traces his metamorphosis from victim to avenger. When it premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh, the Irish Times commented that "by utilizing a brilliantly insidious sound design, Savage does a very good job of providing visual and aural correlatives for the protagonist's fractured psyche" and believed that Muldowney revealed a "distinctive directorial voice that should launch him towards a long and successful career."
