Juanita Wilson wins Best Director award for ‘The Door’

Juanita Wilson has won the award for Best Director for THE DOOR at the Grand OFF, World OFF Awards in Warsaw this weekend.

The Grand OFF, World OFF Awards are the most important awards promoting independent cinema in Poland with over 700 films submissions each year.

The Door, written and directed by Juanita Wilson and produced by Louise Curran (Octagon Films) is based on the true story of a father and his young daughter set in Russia 1986. 

The film already picked up the Best Short Film IFTA earlier this year and the Gold Medal Award (Fiction) at the Bilbao International Festival of Documentary and Short Films.  It has also screened at some of the worlds most prestigious festivals including the Edinburgh International Film Festival.

The film was produced under the Short Cuts scheme which is funded by the IFB and RTE.
