Ondine Picked Up For US Distribution By Magnolia Pictures
Magnolia Pictures has picked up the distribution rights in the US to the Irish feature film ONDINE, which was written and directed by Neil Jordan and stars Colin Farrell, Stephen Rea and newcomer Alicja Bachleda.
ONDINE, which premiered at Toronto Film Festival alongside six other IFB funded films last September, will make its US release this summer through Magnolia's Ultra VOD pipeline prior to its theatrical release.
ONDINE is a tale about hope, love and the value of believing in magic. It tells the story of Syracuse (Colin Farrell), a local fisherman whose life is transformed by a beautiful and mysterious woman, whom he fishes from the sea and who his young daughter believes is a mermaid. But as in all fairytales, enchantment and darkness go hand in hand.
"This film was a labour of love, and I'm looking forward to working with Magnolia to give it the audience it deserves" said Jordan, who is also credited for producing the film alongside James Flynn for Octagon Films and Ben Browning for Wayfare Entertainment (UK). It was co-financed by the IFB, BCI, RTÉ and Wayfare Entertainment.
This latest sales deal follows in the footsteps of the IFB funded THE ECLIPSE, produced by Treasure Entertainment, which was also picked up by Magnolia Pictures last year.
