Costume Designer Joan Bergin nominated for the Annual Costume Designer Guild Awards in LA

Irish costume designer Joan Bergin has been nominated for Outstanding Period/Fantasy Television Series for THE TUDORS at the 12th Annual Costume Designers Guild Awards, to be held on Tuesday 25th February in LA.

No stranger to awards, this is Bergin's third consecutive year getting nominated at the Costume Designer Guild Awards.  She has also picked up two US Emmy awards for Outstanding Costumes for a Series for her work on THE TUDORS and was nominated last year for a Gemini Award, the Canadian equivalent of the Emmys.  She has also been successful on home ground at the Irish Film & Television Awards, collecting two IFTA awards in both 2008 and 2009 and has been nominated yet again in the Costume Design category for this year's ceremony, which will take place at the Burlington Hotel in Dublin on 20th February.

Bergin has gained international critical acclaim for her costume designs over the years, having previously worked on many other productions including In The Name Of The Father and Prestige

THE TUDORS, which was shot entirely on location in Ireland over the last four years and stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers as King Henry VIII during his turbulent reign as the King of England, wrapped filming on its final series last November.  The series is an official Irish/Canadian co-production and was produced by Morgan O'Sullivan of World 2000 Entertainment and Showtime network in the US.  It received funding from the Irish Film Board.

The 12th Annual Costume Designers Guild Awards will take place at the Four Seasons Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles on Tuesday 25th February.
