New Irish Cinema at the Berlinale and the European Film Market
New Irish cinema will be represented at the 60th Berlinale with the IFB funded Signature short CORDUROY officially selected for the festival while Outcast, Wake Wood, Savage, Colony, Swansong, Happy Ever Afters, Foxes, Nothing Personal, Love and Savagery and His & Hers are all screening and selling at the EFM.
Corduroy, written and directed by Hugh O'Conor has been officially selected to screen in the Generation 14Plus section of the festival along with a number of shorts including filmmaker Spike Jonze's (Being John Malkovich, Where the Wild Things Are) most recent short film, I'm Here. Produced by Eimear O'Kane with EMU Productions as part of the IFB's Signatures scheme, Corduroy tells the story of a young autistic woman, who after a traumatic experience is brought to the West of Ireland by a carer to learn how to surf.
Corduroy will have three screenings at the Berlinale: 16th, 19th and 20th February.
The Berlin International Film Festival will take place 11th - 21st February.
