ALLIANCE ATLANTIS WANTS IRISH SCRIPTS
In exciting news for Irish producers, major Canadian production, distribution and international sales agent Alliance Atlantis has announced that it is actively seeking Irish film and television projects.
Speaking at a recent meet and greet session organised by Bord Scannan na hEireann/The Irish Film Board, Dublin-based Distribution President Ted Riley and Toronto-based Managing Director of Motion Picture Sales Charlotte Mickie revealed that the company was moving away from its focus of recent years on bigger budget movies and going back to its routes by concentrating on distinctive films in the under €10 million range.
Stressing that they wanted the 18-month old Alliance Atlantis presence in Dublin to now include an active engagement with local talent, they said the company would consider a range of deal structures dependant on the project, ranging from a pure foreign sales agency deal through to executive producer services that could include a link up with German tax funds, linking Irish producers with Canadian co-producers or acting as co-producers themselves. Apart from feature films, Alliance Atlantis is also active in TV drama and documentary and the pair said that the company also owns TV channels in Canada, presales to which might also be included in potential financing deals.
Riley and Mickie said that scripts should be sent directly to the office in Dublin, from where they hope projects they felt really passionate about will emerge.
