Irish Films to Screen at 10th Belfast Film Festival next month

An impressive mix of IFB funded features and short films will screen at the 10th Belfast Film Festival next month including the much awaited Irish premiere of Triage, which will open the festival.

Danis Tanovic's Triage stars Colin Farrell as a war photographer Mark, who returns home from a dangerous assignment in Kurdistan without his friend and colleague David.  As time goes on it becomes clear that Mark holds the key to the truth behind David's appearance.   The film has previously opened the Seville European Film Festival as well as screening at the renowned Toronto International Film Festival.  It was produced by Alan Maloney for Parallel Films.

Ger Leonard's Five Day Shelter will be making its world première at the festival.  This ensemble drama interweaves the lives of several characters over five days and was produced by Liam O'Neill and Paradox Pictures.  Also screening is Ken Wardop's His and Hers which explores women's relationships with men by visiting the lives of 70 female characters.  Produced by Andrew Freedman for Venom Films, this touching documentary scooped the Audience Award at the recent Jameson Dublin International Film Festival.

Also in the line-up is the super-natural thriller The Eclipse, directed by Conor McPherson and produced by Treasure Entertainment, which recently took home the Best Film and Best Script awards at the IFTAs.  There will also be a chance to catch Colony, the debut feature documentary directed by Ross McDonnell and Carter Gunn which explores the phenomenon that is devastating the honeybee population in North America and which picked up First Appearance Award at the Amsterdam International Documentary Film Festival.

Audiences will also be able to catch a variety of award winning IFB funded short films.  Runners, directed by Rob and Ronan Burke, which won Best Short IFTA, and The Man Inside, which was written and directed by Rory Bresnihan , both of which were financed through the Signatures short scheme.  The short musical Separations Agency, written and directed by Shane Martin and was produced through the Short Shorts scheme.  Also The True Story of Bono and My Ex, which was produced by Ross Whitaker of Street Films through the Virtual Cinema scheme.
