Irish documentary Horses to Air tonight on BBC4
The Irish documentary HORSES, written and directed by Liz Mermin, will be broadcast tonight on BBC4 and again on RTÉ 1 next Tuesday.
HORSES follows three promising, charismatic horses over the course of one rather difficult racing year. Beautiful, unusual, and highly entertaining, the film combines the drama of a sports movie with the exploration of an ancient human obsession, offering a subtle critique of humanity's quirks on the side.
It was an official selection at the Sheffield International Documentary Film Festival last year, who said it "...represents an evolution in documentary's approach to character and a filmmaker's manifold relationship to their subject. It's not just a great film; it's a step in a fascinating direction."
This challenging documentary was produced by Aisling Ahmed for West Park Pictures and was co-financed by the IFB, RTÉ and BBC Storyville.
HORSES can be seen tonight on BBC4 and again on RTÉ 1 on Tuesday 16th.
