Director Stephen Frears to Receive Gregory Peck Award at Dingle Film Festival
Oscar nominated director Stephen Frears is to be honoured with the Gregory Peck Award For Excellence in the Art of Film at the Dingle Film Festival which takes place from this weekend.
Supported by the Irish Film Board, the festival presents the Gregory Peck Award to individuals with special achievements in filmmaking and was established in conjunction with Gregory Peck's family. Gabriel Byrne and Jim Sheridan are previous recipients of the award.
Stephen Frears is best known for directing films including High Fidelity, Mrs.Henderson Presents, The Van and has won a BAFTA for Dangerous Liaisons as well as an Oscar nomination for The Queen.
The festival will open tonight with a premiere screening of Ian Fitzgibbon's new Irish comedy-thriller Perrier's Bounty, with Cillian Murphy who stars in the film in attendance.
Also in the line up of Irish films screening are the Oscar nominated The Secret of Kells, the award-winning Eamon, One Hundred Mornings, Swansong and I Went Down as well as an Irish family short film programme.
