Congratulations to Allyn Quigley Winner of the Short Film Award at the Student Media Awards
Bord Scannán na hEireann / The Irish Film Board (IFB) would like to congratulate Allyn Quigley who picked up the Short Film Award for his film The Christmas Ward at the 10th Oxygen.ie National Student Media Awards which took place in the Mansion House, Dublin last night.
This was the third year the IFB have been involved with the Student Media Awards and the first year to sponsor the Short Film Award. The standard of entries was incredibly high and the judging panel were very impressed by the level of talent these young filmmakers displayed.
There were over 30 submissions in this category, which were short-listed down to five. Allyn, who is a student in IADT Dun Laoghaire, was presented the top prize by director/actor Hugh O'Conor for his moving short film The Christmas Ward.
The 10th National Student Media Awards were a huge success with over 600 students from colleges all over the country in attendance. They were hosted by television personalities Kathryn Thomas and Dáithí O Sé, with over 30 awards handed out rewarding excellence in student media.
Event organiser and Oxygen.ie MD Colman Byrne said "We are delighted that the Smedias continue to go from strength to strength... the current downturn in the economy has made a highly competitive profession even more so. The Smedias is a way for students to make themselves stand out from the crowd."
Congratulations to budding filmmaker Allyn Quigley who scooped Short Film Award for The Christmas Ward.
