Jim Sheridan’s latest film, IN AMERICA which has taken over €1.5 million at the Irish box office to date, is an example of how Ireland can double for other countries.The movie which was shot in Dublin in the Summer of 2001 used a number of locations which doubled for New York city. The interior locations where found in the capital, as well as some significant exteriors. The main location was Aldaborough House in Dublin’s Summerhill area. The opening scenes of the US/Canadian border were shot on an unopened stretch of the M50 at Balinteer. In addition, Parnell Street became Spanish Harlem.
