Calling All Filmmakers: Deadline Extended for Galway Film Fleadh’s Film Fair

The deadline for submissions for applications to both the Film Fair and the Pitching Award has been announced for this year's Galway Film Fleadh which will take place from 6th -11th July.

The Galway Film Fair organises meetings between filmmakers with projects in development and leading members from the world's industry including film financiers, distributors and producers, enabling new talent to be discovered and partnerships to be made. Last year, the Galway Film Fair organised 560 meetings over the course of two days where 80 Irish and European producers pitched their projects to the 65 financiers who attended the Fair.

The deadline for applications to this year's Film Fair has been extended until Tuesday 8th June

The Pitching Award at the Galway Film Fleadh requests applicants to write a 500-word story for screen.  The best five are short-listed by a team from the Irish film industry and are invited to present their pitch to a panel of judges, which takes place in front of an audience during the Fleadh.  The winner is awarded a cheque for €3,000 which also enables the opportunity of time to develop and expand their pitch into a full feature film script.

Previous winners of this award include Will Collins, who went on to write My Brothers, which recently screened at Tribeca Film Festival.

The deadline for the Pitching Award is Friday 18th June.  For further information on the Pitching Award see http://www.galwayfilmfleadh.com/ind_pitching_award.html
