Irish Television Drama Na Cloigne Wins Two Awards at Oireachtas Communication Awards
The Irish drama series Na Cloigne, directed by Robert Quinn, picked up the Best TV Drama Series and the Best Actor award at the Gradaim Chumarsáide an Oireachtais (Oireachtas Communication Awards) which were held at Farmleigh House in Dublin last Friday.
Na Cloigne (The Heads) is a supernatural thriller, which tells the story of a young couple, Seán and Nuala, who become caught up in the horrible and gruesome murders of two young women.
The three-part series was written by Lauren McKenzie and Darach O'Scolaí and was produced by Ciaran O'Cofaigh for ROSG, a Connemara based film and television production company. Director Robert Quinn has previously directed the successful series Rasai na Gaillimhe and Seacht.
The series boasts a host of renowned Irish acting talent including Darach Ó Dubháin, who was awarded Best Actor for his main role as Séan, as well as Siobhán O Kelly, and Macdara Ó Fatharta, Joe Steve Ó Neachtain and Áine Ní Dhroighneáin among the supporting cast. It was co-financed by the IFB, TG4 and the BAI.
The Gradaim Chumarsáide an Oireachtais is an annual celebration of the greatest achievements in Irish language media across all film, television, radio stations, press and the Internet.
The awards took place in Farmleigh House in Dublin on Friday 21st May.
