Calling all Short Film Writers - 2 Day Course on Writing and Rewriting a Short Film
Making a great short film scheme is a springboard to a career in feature films, documentaries and television drama. However, most entries for short film schemes contain a good idea in a sketchy draft. This course will give the creative team behind the idea the skills to hone a screenplay. There will be expert guidance in crafting short films to the standard sought by funders. The course is designed to improve participants' chances of being selected for any short film scheme and then making the best film possible. Participants will be shown how to develop an idea from conception to production-ready script, while avoiding the most common pitfalls.
There will be one introductory lecture to put this work in context, on creating dramatic tension across the span of a film. Then there will be a mix of theory and practical exercises, applicable to works-in-progress. There won't be time for individual consults on works-in-progress during the weekend. Participants can, if they wish, book individual consults for a reduced rate after attending the course. This course is highly recommended for filmmakers who propose to apply for short film awards this year.
