Two Irish Films have been nominated for an Oscar in the Best Animated Short Film category....

Bord Scannán na hÉireann / The Irish Film Board is delighted to announce that Give Up Yer Aul Sins by Cathal Gaffney and Fifty Percent Grey by Ruairi Robinson have been nominated for an Oscar in the best animated short film category.

The nominations, which were announced today 1.35pm GMT is a major boost for Irish animation.
From more than thousands of entries worldwide these two Irish shorts have made it to the final five. Give Up Yer Aul Sins from Brown Bag Films was part of the Frameworks scheme funded by the Irish Film Board, the Arts Council and RTE. Fifty Percent Grey, by Zanita Films was part of the Short Shorts scheme funded by the Irish Film Board.
“Two very talented animators have made it to the Academy! The rising tide lifts all boats.” said Rod Stoneman, CEO of Bord Scannán na hÉireann.

The 74th Annual Academy Awards will take place on March 24th in Los Angeles.
