Atlantic and The Wednesdays to Screen at Outdoor Movies in the Park
Two Irish short films Atlantic and The Wednesdays, directed by Conor Ferguson, will be screening as part of Outdoor Movies in the Park 2010 which takes place in Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin this bank holiday weekend from 5th-7th June.
Atlantic tells a poignant and atmospheric tale of a lonely farmer, passing his days, unaware of the letter that's on its way from the woman he once loved. A letter that could change his life, if he gets to read it...
The award-winning short, which stars Liam Cunningham, recently picked up two nominations for the California Independent Film Festival and was selected for screening at Newport Beach Festival and Manchester Kinofilm Festival among others. It was funded through the IFB Short Shorts scheme and will be shown before Gran Torino on Saturday 5th June at 8:15pm.
The Wednesdays is a funny, sad tale about two pensioners who manage to re-ignite the love they'd almost forgotten about. Sometimes, when you're in the autumn of your days, you'll try anything just to put a smile on your face again...
This poignant film has previously won awards at the prestigious Clermont-Ferrand and Chicago Film Festivals as well as screenings at festivals in Prague, Leeds, Madrid, London, Foyle and Lille. It was financed by RTÉ and Galway Film Centre with print support from the IFB. It will be shown before Slumdog Millionaire on Sunday 6th June at 8:15pm.
Both Atlantic and The Wednesdays were produced by AnneMarie Naughton for Park Films (The Fading Light).
