Short Films Jericho and Dental Breakdown selected for Italian Festival

Two Irish short films, Liam Gavin's Jericho and Dental Breakdown, directed by Ian Power, have been officially selected for the Short Planets section at the 18th Arcipelago Film Festival which takes place in Rome from the 18th-24th June.

Jericho tells the story of Franky Bannon who is struggling to cope following his wife's recent death.  He is suicidal until his imaginary childhood friend returns to show him that the world is beautiful.

This touching short film was produced by Rachel Lysaght for Underground Films and was funded through the IFB Signatures short film scheme.  It had its premiere at last year's Corona Cork Film Festival.

Dental Breakdown is a musical comedy about five reluctant student dentists whose eyes are opened to the cruel consolations of their career by a sadistic tutor.

Written by Dylan Cotter and produced by Fiona Kinsella for Rocket Productions, the film has previously screened at festivals including Foyle, Chicago and Worldfest Huston since its premiere at the Galway Film Fleadh.  It was funded through the IFB Short Shorts scheme.

The 18th Arcipelago - International Festival of Short Films and New Images have officially selected 207 films to be screened as well as competitions, retrospectives, tributes and special events.  It aims to showcase the most original and innovative short and digital films.

The festival takes place at the Intrastevere Multiscreen in Rome, Italy from 18th-24th June.
