'Twas a Morning in July' Wins Two Awards at New York Festival

An Irish low budget feature documentary 'Twas a Morning in July', directed by Brendan Kerins, has won two prizes for Best International Directorial Debut and Best International Geographical Documentary at the New York International Film & Video Festival.

The feature is produced by Premier Video Productions and John Cash of Goldenphotography. The film grew out of a trip that Tipperary-born photographer John took last year in a bid to boost his county's tourism profile. During an interview with Fran Curry on Tipp FM it was suggested that John should make a film.

Twas a Morning in July' looks to act as a testament to Tipperary's natural beauty. It features interviews with horse trainer Aiden O'Brien from Ballydoyle stables, former Tipperary hurler Pat Fox and Henry Healy, President Barack Obama's eighth cousin.

The New York International Independent Film & Video Festival awards will be presented at a ceremony in Los Angeles in November. The filmmaking pair are currently inviting sponsorship to help them make their way to Los Angeles in order to collect their awards. For more information e-mail Brendan Kerins at pvp@iol.ie.
