Ken Wardrop's much lauded documentary HIS & HERS will be available to buy on DVD from Friday 15th October.
The multi award-winning film is based on the old Irish Proverb proving how "A man loves his girlfriend the most, his wife the best, but his mother the longest", telling a 90-year-old love story through the voices of 70 women. This intimate gender and cultural snapshot explores a woman's relationships with the men in her life-father, boyfriend, husband, son. Following sequentially from little girl to old woman, each character portrait is woven with the others into one perfectly crafted cinematic quilt and is an enchanting and affectionate appreciation for woman in all her versatility.
Produced by Andrew Freedman for Venom Films and financed by the IFB, it has bagged a host of awards since it premiered at last year's Galway Film Fleadh, where it won the Best Feature Award. It since picked up the Audience Award at the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival, Best Cinematography at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival, Special Jury Prize in Non-Fiction Storytelling at RiverRun International Film Festival, Best Nonfiction Foreign Jury Award at the Traverse City Film Festival in Michigan, as well as screenings at the Hot Docs and Silver Docs festivals in the States, to name but a few.
