Super Natural Murder Mystery ‘Na Cloigne’ to be Aired on TG4 this Halloween
Na Cloigne, the highly praised three part murder mystery series which screened on TG4 earlier this year, has been compiled into a feature length film version and will broadcast as a "special" on TG4 over the upcoming Halloween period.
Directed by Robert Quinn and produced by Ciarán Ó Cofaigh for ROSG, the Conamara based film and television production company, Na Cloigne is a contemporary supernatural thriller which features a young couple at the centre of an investigation into the violent and gruesome murders of two women.
The story focuses on the discovery of the naked and decapitated bodies of two young women in the woods. Local artist Nuala and her adulterous boyfriend Seán find themselves at the heart of the brutal murder inquiry as jealousy, lust and insecurity drives their relationship to breaking point. The programme moves into paranormal territory when the mysterious Superintendent Ó Sé arrives on the scene and calls upon his supernatural intuition to try and unravel the murder mystery.
Ciarán Ó Cofaigh, producer of Na Cloigne, says the programme is perfect Halloween viewing as it touches on the darker side of the human condition and the supernatural.
"Na Cloigne is a thrilling modern day story which explores the themes of lust, jealousy, family feuding and redemption. It also has a real paranormal and supernatural feel to it that has been influenced by the likes of Twin Peaks and the vast number of old Irish fairy stories that we all grew up with. The result is a clash between contemporary circumstances and ancient forces, which has dramatic consequences for all involved.
"We assembled a fantastic cast and crew of well loved Irish talent for Na Cloigne and there is no doubt that the production is must see television this Halloween. You'll be peeping out from behind the couch, waiting to see what happens!"
Na Cloigne boasts a host of renowned Irish acting talent including Dara Devaney and Siobhán O Kelly starring as troubled couple Seán and Nuala, with Barry McGovern playing the psychic Superintendent who comes to their aid. Among the supporting cast are well known Irish language actors Mac dara Ó Fatharta, Joe Steve Ó Neachtain and Áine Ní Dhroighneáin.
The feature length film adaptation of Na Cloigne airs on TG4 on Monday, 1 November at 9.30pm.
