His & Hers Tops Irish DVD Charts

The success continues for the award-winning HIS & HERS which is the top-selling DVD in the country this week. This is a massive achievement for a small-budget Irish film, which was made for a mere €100,000.

Speaking on the success of the film, Head of Home Entertainment at Element Pictures Distribution Karen O'Malley says "His & Hers is top of the Irish DVD charts and we're absolutely delighted.  People are buying this gem of a film for their mum, their grandmothers, their wives and girlfriends and we expect it will be a very popular gift for Christmas.  It's particularly heartening for an Irish film to top the charts.  The last Irish film to achieve this No 1 position was In Bruges in 2008."

His & Hers tells a 90-year-old love story through the collective voice of 70 ladies at different stages in their lives. Using his own mother's life as inspiration, director Ken Wardrop visits the kitchens, living rooms, hallways and bedrooms of the Irish midlands to craft a truly affecting documentary from snapshots of ordinary life.  The result is an extraordinarily personal and revealing portrait of a woman's relationship with her father, boyfriend, husband, and finally, son.

His & Hers won the Audience award in the Dublin International Film Festival, The Feature Award in the Galway Film Fleadh, an IFTA for Best Feature Documentary and the Cinematography Award at the Sundance Film Festival 2010.
