Critically Acclaimed EAMON Set for DVD Release from 19th November

Margaret Corkery's award-winning feature film EAMON, which tells the entertaining tale of a doomed family holiday, will be released on DVD nationwide from Friday 19th November.

The film stars newcomer Robert Donnelly as Eamon, a quietly disturbed six-year old on a disastrously dysfunctional ‘staycaytion' with his narcisstic mother Grace played by Amy Kirwan and his well-meaning but dead-beat father Daniel, played by Darren Healy (Savage, Once).  Eamon's monopoly on his mother's affections, with oedipal overtones as thick as the suntan lotion he insists on applying to her, rule out any revival of fortunes for Daniel - the sexually frustrated spare tyre in the trio. In the meantime Amy only has eyes for a Daniel Craig-like vision of masculinity in Speedos on the local beach.

Corkery's stylishly assured writing and direction lay the groundwork for the ensuing debacle; a train of events set off by Amy and Daniel's wandering eyes and hyperactive Eamon's consumption of just one glass of coke...

The film scooped the prestigious Independent Camera Award in the Karlovy-Vary International Film Festival last year and was also nominated for three IFTA awards in the categories for Best Film, Best Script and Best Actress.  It was officially selected to screen at the world renowned Toronto Film Festival and has also shown at numerous festivals including the Palm Springs International Film Festival, the AFI European Film Showcase in Washington, the Montreal Festival du Nouveau Cinema and the Reykjavik International Film Festival, among many others.

Produced by Seamus Byrne and Zanita Films, EAMON was financed under the Catalyst Project Scheme which was devised by BSÉ/IFB, Screen Training Ireland, Filmbase, BAI, TV3 and the Arts Council to mentor filmmakers in the art of low-budget filmmaking and fund successful participants to produce a feature film.

Catch EAMON on DVD nationwide from this Friday 19th November.
