La Semaine de la Critique will be celebrating its 50th anniversary!

Parallel section of Cannes Film Festival, the Semaine de la Critique's mission, since its creation in 1962 by the Union of French Film Critics, has been to discover new talents by programming first and second time works. It will present an international competition 7 feature films in international premiere. A small amount of films for a large number of screenings (7 per film) : la Semaine de la Critique offers an excellent critic, public and professional visibility in Cannes. La Semaine is willing to remain open to all genres by presenting 3 special screenings for feature films as well (first and second works). As a discovery section of young cinema talents, La Semaine will present a selection of 10 shorts and medium-lengths films from all over the world.

The Grand Prix de la Semaine de la Critique is awarded by the French and International press (comprised of journalists and film critics who are invited to vote following each screening of the Selection).
