IFTA Anounces Nominees for the 8th Annual Irish Film & Television Awards

The Irish Film and Television Academy has announced the shortlist of nominees for the 8th Annual Irish Film and Television Awards, which takes place on Saturday 12th February at the new Convention Centre Dublin (CCD).  

Nominations have been announced in categories across film and television, celebrating the highest standard of Irish talent over the past twelve months.

Reflecting the Irish film and television industry's continuing development of its creative, original and entertaining output year on year, IFTA received 255 titles submitted for consideration in the 2011 Awards.

The five shortlisted Best Feature Film nominees for 2011 are Juanita Wilson's drama AS IF I AM NOT THERE; the dark comedies PERRIER'S BOUNTY directed by Ian Fitzgibbon and SENSATION directed by Tom Hall; Conor McDermottroe's gritty tale SWANSONG: STORY OF OCCI BYRNE and Ian Power's uplifting drama THE RUNWAY.

Juanita Wilson, Tom Hall and PJ Dillon are nominated alongside Ian Power in the Best Director - Film category.

BURMA SOLDIER, PYJAMA GIRLS, THE PIPE and WHAT WE LEAVE IN OUR WAKE are all shortlisted for The George Morrison Feature Documentary Award.

The Irish Film & Television Awards will take place at the Convention Centre, Dublin on Saturday 12th February.
