Two Irish Producers Selected to Take Part in the Rotterdam Lab
Two Irish producers Deirdre Barry (Avalon Films) and Eimear O'Kane (EMU Productions) have been selected to take part in the 11th edition of the Rotterdam Lab during the upcoming International Film Festival Rotterdam.Deirdre Barry produced the Irish feature BETWEEN THE CANALS which recently screened at the Capital Irish Film Festival in Washington DC. Written and directed by Mark O'Connor it follows three small time criminals from Dublin's North Inner City as they each aspire to be somebody in a fast changing society.
Eimear O'Kane has recently produced the award winning and IFTA nominated short film PENTECOST. The light hearted film written and directed by Peter McDonald tells the story of a young altar boy who is forced to serve at an important mass and has to make a difficult choice: conform to the status quo or serve an extended ban from his passion in life.... football. The short picked up the Best Irish Short Film at the Corona Cork Film Festival last November.
Deirdre and Eimear will join 55 emerging producers from around the globe to take part in the Lab. The CineMart event welcomes producers who were nominated by 22 Rotterdam Lab partner organisations.
Ido Abram of EYE and representatives from Binger Filmlab will lead the Coaching Session on pitching projects during the Lab. Special themes this year include the development and the role of the creative producer, digital distribution and VOD, managing post-production and transmedia. Participants will also have personal meetings with IFFR industry delegates.
The 11th Rotterdam Lab will take place during the International Film Festival Rotterdam from 26th January - 6th February.
