Irish Doc KNUCKLE Garners Critical Acclaim as ContentFilm Takes Foreign Rights at Sundance Film Festival
New Irish documentary KNUCKLE directed by Ian Palmer has received major praise following its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival this weekend.Telling the story of an epic 12-year journey into in the world of an Irish traveller community, the film takes us intimately inside their brutal, secretive and exhilarating bare-knuckle fighting lives.
"Impressively and compulsively shot, Ian Palmer's film is a fascinating glimpse into a world kept usually very private.... Nicely edited and with an evocative soundtrack, it is a compellingly brutal film and seems likely to receive strong support". Screen Daily
CAA closed a deal on Friday night with ContentFilm International who will now represent foreign sales of KNUCKLE excluding the UK.
The Sundance Film Festival, which was originally founded by Robert Redford is the largest independent cinema festival in the U.S., with more than 50,000 people attending screenings in Park City, Utah. Other Irish films screening at festival include THE GUARD which has also been receiving critical acclaim since its premiere, the short SMALL CHANGE and the Scottish-Irish co-production PERFECT SENSE which will premiere tonight Monday 24th January.
KNUCKLE was produced by Teddy Leifer for Rise Films with finance from the IFB and BBC Storyville.
