More information about the short films

THE POLISH LANGUAGE
Co-directed by Alice Lyons and Orla McHardy and produced by Steve Woods for Cel' Division, The Polish Language is an animated film-poem about the subversive force of art and the renewal of poetry in the whispery language of Polish. The film has screened at the Animated Dreams Film Festival, Estonia, the Short Film Festival Clermont Ferrand, France, the SXSW Festival, Texas and at the Edinburgh International Film Festival to name but a few festivals.

T'WAS A TERRIBLE HARD WORK
Also produced by Steve Woods for Cel' Division is Twas A Terrible Hard Work.  Written and directed by David Quin, the animation tells the story of Tipperary miners from the Slieveardagh coal fields.  As they describe their life and work underground, they speak of accidents, water, hard work and death.

HASAN EVERYWHERE
Written and directed by Andrew Kavanagh and produced by Ciara Gillen for Kavaleer Productions, this short explores the story of an Israeli novelist and a Palestinian artist, who strike up a friendship during a freezing New York winter.  A passionate friendship which was impossible at home on their neighbouring crescent but flourished abroad.  The film scooped the Grand Prix Award and the Best Animation at the Digital Media Awards last year and has also been selected to screen at a host of international festivals including Cartoons on the Bay, Italy, Palm Springs International Shortfest, Anima Mundi, Rio de Janeiro,  Brazil, and Hiroshima, Japan, among many others.
